Low Voltage Cable Technician

Full job description:

Engineered Business Services is seeking experienced Low Voltage Cable Technicians to support structured cabling projects in new construction environments. Technicians will be responsible for pulling, routing, and terminating Cat6 and Cat6A cabling to meet commercial standards and site-specific requirements. This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates who are dependable, detail-oriented, and take pride in delivering clean, high-quality work on active job sites.

Schedule: Full-time, typically Monday through Friday

Low Voltage Cable Technicians Responsibilities:

  • Install, route, and secure Cat6 and Cat6A cable in commercial new construction environments

  • Perform terminations on patch panels, jacks, and equipment per project specs

  • Label, test, and troubleshoot installed cable systems using industry-standard tools

  • Follow structured cabling standards and adhere to job site safety protocols

  • Interpret construction drawings and cable run schematics

  • Communicate clearly with site supervisors and follow direction from lead technicians or foremen

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout the duration of the project

Low Voltage Cable Technician Requirements:

  • Proven experience pulling and terminating Cat6/Cat6A cable

  • Familiarity with BICSI and/or TIA/EIA cabling standards

  • Ability to work from lifts, ladders, and in exposed construction settings

  • Comfortable with hand tools, punch-down tools, and cable testers

  • PPE and basic hand tools required (tool list can be provided if needed)

  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites

  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and/or drug screen as required by client

Preferred:

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification

  • Basic understanding of fiber optic cabling is a plus

  • Experience working on commercial sites such as schools, hospitals, office buildings, or data centers
